A new idea for the bedroom from BoConcept
The bedroom space is undergoing one of the biggest transformations in recent years. It is no longer just a place to rest, but a fully-fledged, emotional and functional zone of home life, where aesthetics and comfort combine into a coherent narrative. Interest in bedroom design is growing worldwide, and spending in this segment is beginning to rival investments in kitchens and living rooms. Today’s homeowners are looking for harmony, contemplation and space that gives them a sense of detachment from the excess of stimuli. The bedroom is becoming a sanctuary – a personal suite where the surroundings promote the regeneration of body and mind.
Designers note that consumers have begun to treat these interiors as carefully designed microcosms of the home. Every element – from the chest of drawers to the lighting and texture of the fabrics – creates a story that is consistent with the rest of the space. This way of thinking is particularly strong in the United States, where the “master bedroom” design has for years included separate areas for relaxation, reading and sometimes even work. Morten Georgsen, a designer who has been working with BoConcept for many years, emphasises that this approach inspired the brand to create two new bedroom lines – Element and Bolzano. Each of them focuses on different needs of the modern user, but both are based on the simplicity, harmony and discreet elegance characteristic of Danish design.
The Element collection was created with flexibility and full personalisation in mind. Multi-generational homes, micro-apartments and spaces that change function depending on the time of day require smart solutions. Element responds to this need with modularity and the ability to configure the bed in hundreds of ways. It is a collection that allows you to create a truly personal space – tailored to the user’s preferences, rituals and visual sensibilities. There is a choice of different materials and finishes, including upholstered or wooden headboards, so that each element can be tailored to your own aesthetic.
Georgsen has developed this concept by designing a new line of bedside tables and chests of drawers. Simple frames, vertical grooves, touch-open drawers and a handle-free design give the furniture a modern and light look, while remaining functional. Sturdy metal legs add character, and the entire collection creates a calm, orderly atmosphere that promotes regeneration.
In contrast to the modularity of Element, Bolzano focuses on emotions. This collection embodies the trend known as ‘Cosy Cocoon’, which is gaining popularity in interior design. It features soft, organic forms and harmonious curves, creating an atmosphere of sensual tranquillity. Georgsen emphasises that in an era of digital overload, bedroom design should shift the focus from technology to touch – to softness, warmth and texture. This premise gave rise to the entire Bolzano line, designed like a cocoon that envelops and calms.
Rounded headboards, curved frames, matte finishes and fabrics selected for sensory comfort make Bolzano furniture more than just a piece of furniture. It is an experience. It responds to the needs of people who seek softness in their interiors without sacrificing a sophisticated look. WGSN points out that it is precisely these designs – textured, warm and immersed in subtle colours – that will dominate the approach to bedrooms in 2025. They create a regenerative environment where light, texture and form become part of the emotional landscape.
Both BoConcept collections draw on current lifestyle changes. The bedroom is becoming a place that has to fulfil many roles – sleep, rest, but also work, meditation or a moment for oneself. The boundaries between functions in the home are blurring, so furniture must support this new rhythm. Freestanding wardrobes, modular chests of drawers, smart lighting and clearly defined layouts make every room work more efficiently. In many homes, the bedroom also serves as a study, a reading space or a place of tranquillity, which requires a thoughtful, multi-layered design.
Georgsen emphasises that bedroom design today is about much more than just sleep. The space must function on many levels, maintain elegance and provide balance, regardless of how it is used. This is why consumers are increasingly looking for configurable furniture that suits their individual lifestyle, rather than ready-made sets. Today’s customer treats the bedroom as an intimate space that should have a personal character. Uniqueness and conscious choice are becoming a priority, replacing the era of interiors created according to a single template.
BoConcept, a brand with over 70 years of history, was one of the first companies to combine the elegance of Danish design with the accessibility of a global brand. Since 1952, it has been developing its identity based on simplicity, functionality and exceptional craftsmanship. Today, it has over 300 stores in 65 countries and collaborates with award-winning designers. Under the slogan ‘Live Ekstraordinær’, it creates collections that bring an element of luxury to the home, understood as comfort, aesthetics and thoughtful design. Whether the project concerns a private or business space, the brand’s goal is to provide solutions that harmonise with everyday life and at the same time elevate it to a higher level.
Element and Bolzano open a new chapter for BoConcept. These collections reflect the current needs of modern homes, inspire the creation of peaceful interiors and combine functionality with emotional comfort. According to Georgsen, the future of the bedroom is a space where the rhythm of the day and personal needs meet the beauty of form. Furniture is no longer a backdrop, but a partner in everyday life – supporting regeneration, order and a sense of harmony.
