PLAN YOUR SUMMER WEEKEND IN CAMBRIDGE

There are few cities in the UK as historic, prestigious and iconic as Cambridge. It has the reputation of being one of the most beautiful cities in the UK and boasts a plethora of attractions and activities that you can do. So, what are a few of the best activities to enjoy in Cambridge during the summer?

Gardens & Outdoor Areas

One of the reasons why Cambridge is such a beautiful place to visit during the summer is the many gardens and green areas to explore. The natural landscape blends with the city as it travels along the River Cam and it is never too hard to find a green space to sit back, relax and watch the world go by. Cambridge Bo-tanical Gardens occupies 40 acres and you can easily spend all day here – it is also just a 5-minute walk from the train station.

Architecture & University Colleges

Cambridge wouldn’t be what it is without its prestigious academia as is evident from being home to 30 colleges. Many of these are historic and a sight to behold, so a trip to Cambridge must involve visiting a few of the main highlights such as King’s College, Pembroke College, Trinity College and Corpus Christi College.

River Cam

The River Cam is an iconic part of the city that runs right through the heart to create a beautiful setting. Putting along the River Cam is an essential activity during the warmer months of the year as it can be fantastic fun, you can see many of the city’s highlights from the water and will give you a unique perspec-tive of the city. It is also a great activity to do with a partner as it can be highly romantic, but it is also good fun as a family or with a group of friends.

Museums & Art Galleries

Cambridge is a great place to spend time outside during the summer, but it can get warm when you are exploring all day! A great way to escape the heat is to explore the various museums and galleries throughout the city. There are many worth checking out, including the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, which is famous for its dinosaur and fossil trails, and the Fitzwilliam Museum which hosts stunning art collections along with child-friendly activities available for younger party members.

Cambridge is one of the finest cities in the UK and one that really comes to life during the warmer months of the year. Hopefully, this post will give you a few ideas and encourage you to take a trip this summer either with friends, family, a partner or just by yourself.
